Letters regarding farm subsidies to The Daily Telegraph and The Independent
12th November 2007
The following letter appeared in the Daily Telegraph on Monday 12 November 2007:
From the Press Secretary to TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall
Sir,
The suggestion that The Prince of Wales stands to lose £306,000 in farm subsidies, ("Royals would be big losers under EU plan to cut farm pay-outs", report, November 9) is incorrect.
You appear to have wrongly included money given to farmers on Duchy of Cornwall land. Any subsidies given to these farms, leased from the Duchy of Cornwall go directly to the individual farmers and not to The Prince of Wales.
In common with entitlements for any other working farm, Home Farm at Highgrove receives approximately £90,000 a year in farm subsidies. This is the only farm subsidy which The Prince of Wales receives.

From the Press Secretary to TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall
Sir,
The suggestion that The Prince of Wales receives £225,000 in farm subsidies, is incorrect. Any subsidies given to farms leased on Duchy of Cornwall land go directly to the farmers and not to The Prince of Wales. In common with entitlements for any other working farm, Home Farm at Highgrove receives approximately £90,000 a year in farm subsidies. This is the only farm subsidy which The Prince of Wales receives.
