Statement from Clarence House about Elizabeth Buchanan, Private Secretary to The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall
11th June 2008
Elizabeth Buchanan, Private Secretary to TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall is to leave her position at Clarence House after a decade of working for The Prince of Wales.
Elizabeth hopes to focus her attention on running her organic family farm in Sussex, and may take on two or three non-executive directorships.
Principal Private Secretary Sir Michael Peat said:
“Elizabeth is leaving at Christmas after over 10 happy and brilliant years with the Household.
“She is just about the best Private Secretary I have ever known. It will be a blow for us all, but her father died last year and she has decided that her farm in Sussex needs more of her time.
“She has, of course, told Their Royal Highnesses, who will miss her greatly but entirely understand Elizabeth’s reasons.”
