The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry to play in the Sentebale Polo Cup
23rd May 2011
The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Henry of Wales, Patron of Sentebale, will take part in the Sentebale Polo Cup on 12th June 2011. The event will be sponsored by Royal Salute and held at Cowarth Park, Berkshire.
Prince Harry will play for a Sentebale team against his brother, the Duke of Cambridge, who will play for a team in aid of Tusk Trust.
This will be the second Sentebale Polo Cup, after Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho launched the event at the Apes Hill Polo Club in Barbados in January 2010.
Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso launched the Cup to focus attention on, and raise funds for, Sentebale – the charity they founded to continue the legacy of their late mothers’ charitable work with children. Sentebale means ‘forget-me-not’ in Sesotho and was chosen as a reminder never to forget the victims of poverty and of the HIV/AIDS epidemic prevalent in Lesotho.
Notes to Editors:
The event was due to be held in Dubai in March this year, but was cancelled as Prince Harry felt it would be insensitive for him to have participated in a sporting event at a time when there were matters of greater priority to focus on in the region.
The official name for the event is "The Sentebale Polo Cup, sponsored by Royal Salute".
A more detailed itinerary will be released by St. James’s Palace in due course.
