Latest Press Release
Welsh property for The Duchy of Cornwall
22nd November 2006
The Duchy of Cornwall has recently exchanged contracts with the vendors of Llwynywermod, Myddfai, Llandovery, Carmarthenshire. Completion is set for the end of March 2007.
The property will be used regularly by The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall when they are in Wales.
The Duchy of Cornwall will be applying for planning permission to enable the property to be used as occasional holiday lets when The Prince and The Duchess are not there.
His Royal Highness, as Prince of Wales, has for some time been keen for The Duchy to purchase a property in Wales.
There is some conversion work to be done to the property, subject to planning permission, including extending the existing house to provide more catering facilities and additional accommodation.
The Duchy hopes to take advantage of local expertise when renovating the property, and it is also hoped that renovation work on the property could be used as an opportunity to train young people.
The land comprises of around 192 acres, 150 acres of which is grazing and parkland and around 40 acres of woodland.
The picturesque grounds include a walled garden, and the remains of a lake, within an eighteenth century former parkland, all of which require further restoration on top of the good work already having been done by the current owners.

Ym mis Tachwedd 2006, cyhoeddodd Clarence House fod Dugaeth Cernyw wedi prynu eiddo yng Nghymru i’w ddefnyddio yn rheolaidd gan Dywysog Cymru a Duges Cernyw pan fyddant yn ymweld.
Enw’r ystâd yw Llwynywermod, Myddfai, Llanymddyfri ac mae wedi’i leoli yn Sir Gaerfyrddin.
Fe fydd Dugaeth Cernyw yn ymgeisio am ganiatâd cynllunio er mwyn gallu gosod rhannau o’r eiddo fel bythynnod gwyliau achlysurol pan nad yw’r Tywysog a’r Dduges yno.
Mae Ei Uchelder Brenhinol, fel Tywysog Cymru, wedi bod yn awyddus ers peth amser i’r Ddugaeth brynu eiddo yng Nghymru.
Mae angen gwneud peth gwaith addasu ar yr eiddo, yn ddibynnol ar ganiatâd cynllunio, gan gynnwys ehangu’r tŷ presennol i ddarparu mwy o adnoddau coginio a llety ychwanegol.
Mae’r Ddugaeth yn gobeithio manteisio ar arbenigedd lleol wrth adfer yr eiddo, ac mae hefyd yn obaith y gellir defnyddio’r gwaith adfer fel cyfle i hyfforddi pobl ifanc.
