The Duchess of Cornwall celebrates British Food Fortnight
28th January 2011
Like her husband The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall is a passionate supporter of British food and farming. Her Royal Highness has been involved in a number of different events with British Food Fortnight (BFF), which is celebrating its 10th anniversary and last year was described by Alexia Robinson, founder of the BFF as the event's "fairy godmother".
The event on Thursday 27th January saw The Duchess meet a number of winners of the British Food Fortnight Secondary Schools Competition at Clarence House and enjoying a number of British delights cooked by the winning schoolchildren for lunch.
At the launch of British Food Fortnight 2010, The Duchess made a speech talking about what British food means to her. Her Royal Highness told the audience: “I have always loved food and really enjoy cooking simple dishes with the best British ingredients.
"That, for me, is what British food is really about; a chicken, that has lived a natural life, pecking and scratching about in the yard, roasted until golden brown.”
