The new Highgrove Shop opens in Tetbury

The new Highgrove Shop opens in Tetbury

17th March 2008

On Monday 17th March, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall opened the Highgrove shop at 10 Long Street in Tetbury, Gloucestershire.

For many years The Prince of Wales has lived at the Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire, which is now well-known for its organically run gardens and farm.

The great majority of the 24,000 visitors to the garden also pass through the Highgrove Shop, which last year raised £250,000 for The Prince’s Charities Foundation.

The new shop in Tetbury follows the success of the shop at Highgrove House and will sell an extended range of Highgrove gifts.

It will also provide the opportunity to integrate Highgrove in to the local community and offer people who have visited the Estate shop the chance to make repeat purchases.

The Prince’s Charities Foundation

All profits from the shop go to charity and are channelled into The Prince’s Charities Foundation.

The Foundation exists to manage and allocate funds generated by The Prince’s social enterprises, such as the Highgrove Shop, and supports a wide variety of worthwhile causes. Click here to find out more.

Duchy Originals, His Royal Highness’s natural, high-quality organic product range, is another example of social enterprise.   Click here to find out more about the Social Enterprise side of The Prince's charitable work.

The company, which donates all its profits to charity, has raised over £6million for the Foundation since it was founded by The Prince in 1992.

The Shop and products

The new shop is in part of a listed building on Long Street, and has a small walled courtyard.

The interior design, using natural materials such as terracotta tiles and solid wood shelving and tables, will complement the products on sale.

Each and every product within the new shop will be sourced from or have been inspired by some aspect of the Highgrove House or gardens, or be a reflection of The Prince of Wales’s interests at home or abroad.

There will be plants, garden tools and pots, books, candles, wooden toys, accessories for the home and stationery.

Duchy Originals products and organic foods grown or made at Highgrove or the Duchy Home Farm will also be available. The shop will offer only carefully selected items from ethical and sustainable sources, made by local artisans and craftsmen.

The shop will be closed on Sunday 2nd November.  The Highgrove Shop website is now online and a selection of products can be purchased online.  Click here to visit the online shop.
