TRH host a private family dinner to mark the Diamond Wedding Anniversary of The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh

18th November 2007

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this evening hosted a private family black tie dinner to celebrate the 60th "Diamond" wedding anniversary of The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.

A total of 25 members of the Royal Family attended, plus Autumn Kelly, the fiancée of Peter Phillips.

The dinner was hosted by The Prince and The Duchess at their official London residence, Clarence House.

The guests were:

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall
Prince William and Prince Harry
The Duke of York
The Earl of Wessex and the Countess of Wessex
The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie
Zara Phillips
Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly
The Duke of Gloucester and The Duchess of Gloucester
The Duke of Kent
Prince Michael of Kent and Princess Michael of Kent
Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy
Viscount Linley and Viscountess Linley
The Lady Sarah Chatto and Mr Daniel Chatto

The guests arrived at 8pm and after drinks they sat down for dinner in the Dining Room.

The menu was as follows:

- Eggs Drumkilbo with Caithness lobster (Eggs Drumkilbo was one of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother’s favourite dishes. It is a set mousse, glazed in aspic, made with fresh mayonnaise, chunks of lobster, fresh herbs including chervil and tarragon.)

- Sandringham partridge crown-roasted on a faggot of herbs with Duchy bacon, braised cabbage, roast potatoes, game chips, thyme sauce and bread sauce

- Vanilla, raspberry and chocolate layered ice-cream cake with a compote of Highgrove red berries

The chef for the evening was Julian Williams, who is The Prince of Wales’s Head Chef.

The flower arrangements were created by Shane Connolly. The flowers on the table are white cattleya orchids, taking inspiration from The Queen’s bouquet on her wedding day on 20th November 1947.

The flowers around the base of the gilt candelabra were inspired by the bridesmaids’ headdresses, and were an arrangement of wheat and orange blossom.

A smaller replica of the original wedding cake was presented to The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.
