In October 2004, The Prince visited Jordan as part of his annual autumn tour. The focus of the visit was to reinforce links between Jordan and Britain and to visit projects aimed at helping disabled people, improving urban regeneration and the preservation of traditional arts.

The Prince visits Bethany on the River Jordan where, archaeologists believe, John the Baptist baptised Jesus Christ. During the month of Ramadan, The Prince breaks fast with King Abdullah and shares Royal Iftar. After visiting Mount Nebo, from where Moses saw the Promised Land, The Prince visited Bethany, believed to be the site of Christ's baptism. Her Majesty Queen Rania and The Prince visit a pioneering nature reserve at Ajloun, Jordan, which aims to promote eco-tourism and sustainable community development. The Prince looks at over the townscape of Salt, Jordan‘s former capital. He attended a seminar on the urban regeneration of the area.
