In this exercise, part of William's role is to keep the carrying frame safe William works as part of a four man team waiting at the bottom of a cliff as a stretcher is brought down at an angle on a guiding line. The method is used when lowering casualties on to rocky terrain. William and another novice make their way down the rock face with a ballast-filled stretcher representing an injured person. Prince William was one of several novices using Holyhead Mountain in Anglesey, North Wales to practise emergency life-saving and rescue skills.
