The Duchess of Cornwall attends the ICAP Charity Day in support of Maggie's Cancer Centres

7th December 2011

The Duchess of Cornwall closed a £5 billion deal in the City today as part of a global charity event hosted by the stockbroker firm ICAP.

The ICAP 19th annual global charity day saw The Duchess and a number of celebrities including Lewis Hamilton, Rod Stewart and Rupert Everett join hundreds of brokers sporting fancy dress to raise funds for more than 200 charities.

The £5 billion deal completed by The Duchess of Cornwall was a "five yard" sterling  interest rate swap, facilitated by brokers dressed as beefeaters, and one of several huge deals closed by The Duchess as she moved from desk to desk.

The interdealer broker ICAP expects to raise millions for charities including Maggie's, a cancer charity of which The Duchess is President.

Last year, The Prince of Wales and The Duke of Cambridge attended the event in support of two of The Prince of Wales’s charities, Youth Business International and The Prince’s Teaching Institute and Skill Force, of which Prince William is Patron.

ICAP Charity Day was set up to make a significant difference to charities by giving away all of ICAP’s revenue and commissions on one day each year, enabling the organisation to make large donations with real impact.
