The Prince of Wales arrives in Kuwait

The Prince of Wales arrived in Kuwait today, beginning the first leg of his tour to the Gulf States before heading to South Africa where The Duchess of Cornwall will join him.Arriving at the Kuwait International Airport late this evening, His Royal Highness was greeted with a traditional welcome tea with The Crown Prince of Kuwait and Kuwaiti dignitaries.
Kuwait is currently celebrating its fiftieth anniversary of independence from the UK, and twentieth anniversary of its liberation from Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. Tomorrow The Prince will join a State Lunch to celebrate the occasion before heading to Qatar.
Their Royal Highnesses are undertaking the tour at the request of the British Government, and during these visits will build on the long-standing relationships between the British Monarchy and the ruling families in the region.
The Prince last visited Kuwait in 2007, where along with The Duchess he spent 10-days touring five Gulf states.
