The Prince of Wales receives the 2011 Property Award from the College of Estate Management
9th September 2011
The Prince of Wales was awarded a top accolade from the College of Estate Management today.
The Prince, who is Patron of the College of Estate Management, received the 25th anniversary Property Award for his “outstanding contribution to the property sector”.
His Royal Highness has been an environmental leader for over 20 years and has a keen interest in architecture that puts people and their needs at the centre of the design process.
The urban expansion of Dorchester, Poundbury, spearheaded by The Prince of Wales through his charity The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment, is an example of such a design process.
In a video message, The Prince said "I am flattered that such an eminent group of people have recognised what I have been trying to achieve for a long time - genuinely sustainable and integrated development."
He added: "For a long time I have attempted to give a voice to the people for whom buildings - aesthetically and functionally - are part of the experience of daily life."
