TRH and Prince Harry attend "We Are Most Amused" in honour of The Prince of Wales's birthday and in aid of The Prince's Trust
12th November 2008
The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry enjoyed a night of top-notch comedy in aid of The Prince’s Trust with stars such as Robin Williams, John Cleese and Rowan Atkinson.
The show We are Most Amused was held at the New Wimbledon Theatre in South London.
The evening was in aid of The Prince's Trust and before the comedy began Celestine Walcott-Gordon, who has benefited from the organisation which helps disadvantaged young people, sang the national anthem.
Upon their arrival, the royal party met performers including Robin Williams who is performing in the UK for the first time in 25 years.
He launched straight into a routine about the recent American presidential elections.
The comic told the audience that "Obama is an old Kenyan word for Kennedy", adding "America's officially out of rehab".
John Cleese played a curmudgeonly old character in a wheelchair who passed criticism on all the acts, and said: "What better tribute to the Heir to the Throne of this formerly great country that we should bring him tonight to this cramped old theatre somewhere in the God-forsaken suburb.
"A theatre that no-one in this audience had heard of before, and then watch him like a hawk to see if he laughs at anything - how very relaxing for him.
"I bet when The Duchess of Cornwall told you Sir she had a couple of tickets for Wimbledon you thought you were in for a treat."
The show also featured Joan Rivers, Andrew Sachs, and This Morning presenters Philip Schofield and Fern Britton.
We Are Most Amused will be shown on ITV1 on Saturday night.
