TRH attend the opening night of Aida at the Royal Opera House
26th April 2010
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall attended the opening night of Aida at the Royal Opera House this evening.
The Prince is Patron of the Royal Opera and the Royal Opera House and both of Their Royal Highnesses are great supporters of the arts.
The Duchess of Cornwall fractured her left leg while hillwalking in Scotland earlier this month and has been using a wheelchair to keep the weight off her leg while it heals.
This evening The Prince pushed The Duchess’s wheelchair into the Royal Opera House as they arrived for the first night of Aida.
Aida is one of the highlights of the Royal Opera’s 2009/2010 season and is directed by David McVicar.
It will be the first time the production has been performed since 2003 at the Royal Opera House.
The opera stars Italian soprano Micaela Carosi in the title role.
The proceeds for the evening will go to the Royal Opera House Foundation to enable The Royal Opera House to train the next generation of artists.
