Sentebale - Camp 'Mamohato
Boitumelo’s Grandmother on how Camp ‘Mamohato has helped him:
"I am very happy for the change I noticed to my grandchild since he returned from Camp ‘Mamohato. Before he attended Camp he could not talk about his status, he was embarrassed every time when we talked about the virus. He did not like the topic of HIV education, but I as a parent wanted him to have broad knowledge about the pandemic, so that he could take a good care of himself.
I was surprised when he came back from Camp! He introduced the topic and he wanted to teach us. He even told us that we don’t understand the way he did because we were not at the Camp therefore we have to listen to what he was saying. He talked about the HIV and how it differs from AIDS, "soldiers of the body" and the importance of keeping up his treatment.
He did not like to play with other children before; I think it was because of his status. But now he has made friends and he is teaching other children the new games he learnt from camp. I am so impressed about how you have changed my grandson's life."
“The camp has shown us that we can now be more comfortable with each other. We have realised that we have long lives to live and that we can share what we’ve learned with other children that we meet.” Kotsi, Camp ‘Mamohato.
