Centrepoint - Zoe's story
Christmas hasn't always been happy. It used to be just another day of being afraid of my dad. The violence wouldn't stop because there were fairy lights in the window or presents under the tree. He would hurt me at any time of the year.
Eventually, I had to move out. I couldn't stand the fear any longer. But life on the streets or in dangerous hostels was even worse. Drug dealers and pimps don't take time off for Christmas so at the coldest time of the year, I was afraid for my life.
But this year, for the first time in my life, I'm actually looking forward to Christmas. Since being referred to Centrepoint, I don't have to be afraid anymore. I've taken my life back and am about to start my second year at Uni.
I have Centrepoint and their supporters to thank for that. They showed me the kindness my family never did and gave me the opportunities I was never allowed. I want more homeless young people to have the chances I did, and that's why I hope that if you give one gift this Christmas, it will be to Centrepoint.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
