UNICEF - Elijah in Nairobi
Elijah is an eleven-month old baby boy with severe malnutrition.
He was admitted to the UNICEF-supported Provide Clinic in Korogocho in Nairobi, Kenya, weighing 4.5kilos (9.9lbs). He had previously been admitted to hospital with a severe case of malaria and measles, and suffered dramatic weight loss.
At the Provide Clinic, Elijah was immediately started on a course of peanut paste.
Peanut paste is a life-saving food: easily digestible and filled with calories and nutrients, it has helped to bring many thousands of severely malnourished children back to health.
On 4th November, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit Copenhagen to see first-hand the work being carried out in deploying supplies to the famine zones in East Africa.
