The Prince of Wales meets a hospital patient during a visit to Wales

The Prince of Wales has long been involved with a wide variety of healthcare organisations which he helps with personal support, funding, and regular visits to hospitals and hospices. He has also long advocated an integrated approach to healthcare. This means placing an emphasis on prevention and on tackling the social and environmental causes of ill-health, as well as using proven complementary therapies alongside conventional medicine.

The Prince’s Foundation for Integrated Health (FIH)
Integrated health is an approach which combines the best of conventional and complementary medicine, with a focus on the whole person and the encouragement of good health as well as the treatment of illness.

The Prince’s Foundation for Integrated Health encourages greater collaboration between conventional and complementary practitioners and facilitates the development of integrated healthcare.

The Foundation was recently awarded a three-year £900,000 grant by The Department of Health for its work in supporting the regulation of complementary therapies.

In 2005, The Foundation published a new guide that provides practical information to help people across the UK find safe, well-regulated complementary healthcare practitioners. Click here to visit The Prince’s Foundation for Integrated Health (FIH) website.
