The Prince of Wales meets a hospital patient during a visit to Wales

The Prince of Wales has long been involved with a wide variety of healthcare organisations which he helps with personal support, funding, and regular visits to hospitals and hospices. He has also long advocated an integrated approach to healthcare. This means placing an emphasis on prevention and on tackling the social and environmental causes of ill-health, as well as using proven complementary therapies alongside conventional medicine. In 1993 The Prince of Wales founded The Prince’s Foundation for Integrated Health (FIH). As the charity achieved its aims, in April 2010 the Board of Trustees decided to close the charity.
