Ready for Work

The Ready for Work initiative is part of the Business Action on Homelessness (BAOH) programme launched by Business in the Community, one of The Prince’s Charities.

Working closely with local homelessness organisations, BAOH identifies people who are 'ready for work' but perhaps lack confidence or have been out of the workplace for a long time.

Homeless clients are given the opportunity to enter, or re-enter the job market, gain professional training, a minimum of 2 weeks' work placements, ongoing job coaching and invitations to Client Support Network Meetings.  Ready to Work local partners include The Elite Group, Bradford & Bingley, Mears Group and Gripple.

Marks & Spencer have been the lead placement provider, with 700 clients having completed placements and a dedicated programme of their own, inspired by Ready for Work called Marks & Start, for homeless people.

The programme has provided 1,700 homeless people with work placements in 200 UK companies in 22 cities.
