The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall have recorded readings of two poems to celebrate National Poetry Day 2020.
The annual celebration, which takes place on the first Thursday of October, encourages all to enjoy, discover and share poetry.
This year focuses on the theme of “vision”.
The Prince of Wales chose to read an extract from ‘Ode: Intimations of Immortality' by William Wordsworth.

The Duchess of Cornwall meanwhile read W.H. Auden’s poem ‘Night Mail’. Her Royal Highness is a supporter of Poetry Together, an initiative that brings together school children and older people to recite poetry. In 2019, The Duchess joined one of the Poetry Together recitals during a day of literacy engagements in London, and performed poetry with pupils of a local school.
An avid reader herself, The Duchess is passionate about the importance of supporting children and adults alike to develop an interest in reading and writing.
