The Prince of Wales, Patron, The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, will host a reception at St. James's Palace for survivors of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides. His Royal Highness will also be presented with the Statue of Remembrance, awarded by the International Auschwitz Committee to those who support remembrance and a world of open-mindedness and tolerance. The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will visit the newly refurbished Ferens Art Gallery as Hull celebrates its year as UK City of Culture. Their Royal Highnesses will tour the gallery meeting the Ferens curatorial team, representatives from Hull City Council and team members, volunteers and partners of Hull UK City of Culture 2017. The Prince of Wales will visit Holy Trinity Church to view their ongoing regeneration project, meet the clergy, church staff, volunteers and members of the congregation and the local community. The Duchess of Cornwall, Patron, Emmaus UK will visit Emmaus Hull and East Riding. Her Royal Highness will meet companions and supporters of the charity, Emmaus, The Orchard, 33 Lockwood Street, Hull HU2 0HJ.
The Prince of Wales, President The Royal Shakespeare Company, will attend a RSC outreach programme, part of the Hull City of Culture 2017, at the Community Centre in the former Church of the Holy Apostles on the Great Thornton Estate. HRH will meet local residents of the estate including community groups, and the Goodwin Development Trust, Church of the Holy Apostles, Walker Street, Hull, HU3 2HD.
The Duchess of Cornwall, Patron of First Story, will celebrate First Story’s partnership with Hull, City of Culture, and the launch of its writing residencies in five Hull secondary schools. HRH will present prizes to five young winners of Hull’s 100-word writing competition and meet children taking part in a writing workshop.
