HRH at Loch Leven Fish Farm in Scotland
The Duke of Rothesay visited Marine Harvest Scotland’s Loch Leven Fish Farm today to find out about sustainable salmon farming. His Royal Highness took a short boat ride out to see the salmon pens and toured the on shore facilities during the visit.
Salmon have been farmed in Loch Leven since 1975. It was one of the first salmon farming sites in Scotland and in 2015 it became the first farm in the UK to be approved by international organisation Aquaculture Stewardship Council, who set strict guidelines on issues such as environmental impact.

The farm at Loch Leven, which houses more than 550,000 salmon, has set the benchmark for the Scottish fishing industry and is recognised for being chemical free and using small fish called wrasse, to eradicate sea lice - one of the biggest threats facing wild salmon.
