The Prince of Wales meets members of Blue Watch during his visit to Shadwell Fire Station

The Prince of Wales visited Shadwell Fire Station in London today to officially reopen the rebuilt site as the London Fire Brigade celebrates its 150th year.

His Royal Highness was welcomed by fire station staff before watching a fire drill demonstration in the Yard. The demonstration was a full simulation of a rescue, involving smoke, water and a fire investigation dog.

During the visit, The Prince also met local school children who were at the station to conduct fire safety training as part of the official re-opening programme, and spent some time talking to Fire Cadets about their training.

Before departing, His Royal Highness presented the keys of a former London Fire engine to the High Commissioner, and unveiled a plaque to commemorate the visit.
