The Prince of Wales walking near Boscastle National Trust Visitor Centre

His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales has been President of the National Trust for the past 25 years, and in 2020 the Trust is celebrating its 125th anniversary.

In a special anniversary edition of the National Trust Magazine released today, The Prince has written a foreword acknowledging the vital role of its members and volunteers.

This year marks the 125th anniversary of the National Trust. It also happens to be my 25th year as President of this great British institution which, with your valuable support, continues to play a vital role in our national life.

The conservation charity works to protect and care for the nation’s coastline, historic sites, countryside and green spaces for everyone to enjoy whilst allowing nature to thrive.

Whilst the Trust’s properties, parks and gardens are temporarily closed owing to the current health crisis, the Trust continues to share innovative new ways of exploring and enjoying places and outdoor spaces from the safety of your own home. Like taking a virtual walk around a beautiful bluebell wood.

It continues to provide countless ways for us all to connect personally and profoundly with Nature and our heritage, and to be inspired to take action ourselves.
