The Prince of Wales has recorded a video message to the Muslim community across the UK and the Commonwealth as the month of Ramadan begins.
His message was tonight shared in a virtual Iftar, a gathering to break the fast, as this year Ramadan is observed at home.
The Iftar brought together young people online and was organised by the NAZ Legacy Foundation and Mosaic, an initiative founded by The Prince of Wales in 2007 and now part of The Prince’s Trust.
In his message, The Prince also praised the work of the Muslim community in their response to the current health crisis:
I have every confidence in your remarkable capacity to rise to the challenges posed by this crisis, whilst embodying the Ramadan spirit of charity and selflessness.
The Mosaic Initiative helps deepen the reach of The Prince’s Trust into diverse communities across the UK, and young people who are now working in the NHS through The Prince’s Trust ‘Get into Healthcare’ programme joined the virtual event discussing their contributions and experiences working for the NHS since the coronavirus outbreak.
