Noswaith dda. Mae'n bleser mawr bod yma heno. (Good evening. It is a great pleasure to be here tonight.)
It is a great pleasure to be here to celebrate one of the world's most important sporting events.
There is no doubt that not only will the 2010 Ryder Cup provide a fine legacy - for the game of golf, for the economy and for Wales as a nation - but it will also put this very special country on the television screens
of a huge worldwide audience.
I can only commend the endeavours made to reduce the event's carbon footprint, and to ensure its long-term benefits will be shared by the wider community - which includes many younger people who have been introduced to the sport as a result of Ryder Cup commitments.
My congratulations and gratitude go to all those who have worked so hard to achieve a memorable tournament - and my thorough impartial best wishes to all the competitors.
