Salvation Army - Scarborough

In Kind Direct

"We order a lot from In Kind Direct in the run up to Christmas toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap and small cosmetic items. We use these products to fill shoe boxes for the homeless. We made up 50 boxed for our most recent appeal this would not have been possible if we had bought the items for full price in the shops" Jackie Dartnall-Smith, Salvation Army, Scarborough.

The Salvation Army Scarborough provides services for the youth and the homeless within the local area. They work with youth attending their church through a toddler group, Guides, Brownies, Rainbows and Sunday school. The charity also runs a coffee shop which, as well as serving paying customers, provides hot drinks and food for up to 40 homeless people every day.

The Scarborough Salvation Army joined In Kind Direct in April 2010 and has already benefited from receiving toys, toiletries, nappies, cosmetics and washing products. These goods have been used as gifts to the homeless and the disadvantaged living in the area as well as helping in the everyday running of its services.
