The Prince's Trust
Naomi, 25, from Birmingham grew up in a deprived estate, and opportunities were few. When she became a single mother she realised she needed to transform her life, and signed up to The Prince's Trust Enterprise Programme.
After growing up on a deprived estate in a single parent household, Naomi had no confidence in herself and had grown to accept a life of poverty. However, when Naomi became a single mother she realised she needed to change her situation.
The idea of starting her own business occurred to her after planning her son’s christening and realising the cost of everything especially customised balloons and cakes. She decided to undertake The Prince’s Trust Enterprise Programme to help her gain the business skills required to launch Candy Bubbles - a business selling balloon bouquets and luxury soap products.
Since the launch of Candy Bubbles, the company has been a huge success. Naomi has exhibited her business at the 2010 Celebrate Success Awards and now offers her services for corporate events for business including Tesco and Aston Villa Football Club. She admits that without the Enterprise Programme she would have made none of these developments and has taken every opportunity to speak about her journey with The Prince’s Trust by inspiring young people on the Explore Enterprise course with her motivational talks and the West Midlands Celebrate Success event.
Naomi is extremely proud to represent The Prince’s Trust as a Young Ambassador. Her life has been turned around since completing the Enterprise Programme and she is keen to promote the opportunity to other young women. She has been embraced by her community as an inspiring role model and her vocal support has made her a great asset to The Trust.
Naomi said: "The Prince’s Trust has turned my life around. I am committed to showing young people that they can get help just like me. I have made my mother so proud of what I have achieved and it would never have been possible without this great organisation."
We would like to acknowledge the individuals or organisations who have played a key role in helping this young person achieve success through their Prince’s Trust programme:
- Steve Jenkins, Programme Executive, The Prince’s Trust
- Dewi Prichard-Jones, Programme Manager, The Prince’s Trust
